Presentation Night!

Last night was Dolphin's Presentation Night at North Notts Arena! :D I had a brilliant time with some amazing people! After collecting my awards and watching everyone else collect their awards (including my cousin Lara who won two 1st place trophies and 2nd place in her age group overall), the buffet opened and we hit the dance floor! The whole night was fantastic but a few highlights from the dancefloor for me have to be doing the Single Ladies routine with Alex, Elliott, James, Cjay and Lorna nott realising we were being videoed... Alex having a mini dance off with a little blonde haired boy who looked about 6... and dancing to some classics like Jumpin' all over the World, Now You're Gone, Mama do the Hump, Tragedy, Gangnam Style, Cha Cha Slide and many more! :D Overall, I had an absolutely amazing time and everyone looked really nice! Here are a few photos. xxx

'Cos this is Thriller!

I know it's like a week late, but last Saturday (3rd November 2012) I went to Emma's for her Halloween party! I had a great night and everyone looked really good in their costumes! I myself went as Little Red Riding Hood however, to make it a bit more Halloween-ified I put some fake blood on my forehead, backcombed my hair and basically made it look like the Big Bad Wolf had got Little Red! Poppy went as a 'lacey' black cat (view her blog to see some more pics and that), Emma went as a fallen angel, Eli a vampire, 3 of the boys as generally spooky type dark looking characters and, as for Jake and Ashley... I don't even know hahaha! Let's just say their costumes involved one of Eli's bras each... I'll let you see for yourself with the pictures! There was a game of get-the-apples-hanging-from-a-piece-of-string-from-the-ceiling-with-your-mouth, some top dancing from us girls and a lot of laughs during the night! So thank you to Emma for inviting me and thank you to everyone there for making it a very enjoyable night! :D xxx

Zombie Day at Post 16!

First things first...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Yes, that's right, it's the 31st October and therefore, Halloween! Ooooo! And yesterday at Post 16 it was Zombie Day, where most people dress up as a zombie or something Halloween related for the day and well... go to school hahaha! I myself dressed up as a zombie (although a couple of people said I looked like a vampire...) by slapping a bit of face paint on, backcombing my hair and cutting up a black top I had. All in all, it was quite fun dressing up and the money raised went to charity, so squirting fake blood all over myself in the changing rooms at Retford Leisure Centre yesterday morning was definitely worth it, if you ask me! Hahaha!
Tonight I'm going to Clumber with a few friends for the Halloween ghost story walk they do, so the wellies will probably be making an appearance along with a hat, gloves and a warm winter coat! Then on Saturday I'm going to a friend's Halloween party as a zombie doctor/nurse so I'll be putting my face painting skills to the test again!
Hope you have a spooktacular Halloween!

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IS HERE!

As a reward for my GCSE results (see previous post) my Mum bought me tickets to go and see the Phantom of the Opera at Leeds Grand Theatre on Friday the 14th September at 7:30pm.

                                   AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

A month or so prior to that, my brother had put the DVD of the 25th anniversary performance of Phantom at the Royal Albert Hall on one night, and since then I have been totally in love with everything Phantom of the Opera! So, of course, when I opened my 'well done for your results' card from my Mum and two tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera dropped out of it, I was rather excited! (I also started crying a little lol)!

So, on Friday, we went to see it! It really was incredible! I don't think I can actually tell you just how brilliant it was, it was that incredible! The story is beautiful, the music it utterly fantastic and the way they performed it at Leeds was truly mesmerizing! And the staging! It was pure genius, I tell you! Especially during the song 'Phantom of the Opera'! It really was utterly brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it! So, thankyou to my Mum for taking me to see it!

I ordered the 25th anniversary performance soundtrack (for, quite frankly, an absolute bargain at £2.75 off of Amazon) which went on my iPod on Saturday, so I've been listening to that a lot! Plus, I've worn my Phantom of the Opera t-shirt and looked through my Phantom of the Opera brochure- both of which were purchased at the performance on Friday night!

I LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Here are a few pictures from Friday night and a picture of my t-shirt too!

GCSE Results!

Yes that's right, we've got them! As of Thursday 23rd of August I now know my GCSE results along with my friends and other fellow year 11 (or kind of ex year 11 now since we've left school) students! I was very pleased with my results, although there was one small mishap with one of them, but hopefully that will soon be rectified! I would like to say a huge well done to all of my friends who received some truly amazing and well-earned results themselves also! I hope everyone else got the results they wished for too!

After receiving our results, my friends and I went out for a kind of celebratory spot of lunch at The Ashley, where we saw about 8 teachers hahaha! I had a tuna and cheese melt baguette with a side order of chips for the main part of my meal out, and then decided to indulge in a slice of chocolate fudge cake for pudding! I had a great time with my friends and even spoke to my Spanish teacher whilst we were there too!

All in all, I was extremely happy with how my results went and am very proud of all my friends for their brilliant results too!

                                                WELL DONE TO EVERYONE!

And on an extra little note, well done to my brother who got his A-level results the week before me and achieved the grades he needed to get into his first choice university! xxx

Outwood Academy Valley Prom 06-07-2012!

What a night! Yes, the 6th of July 2012 held a very special event for me, my friends and the rest of my school year... PROM! I really did have an absolutely brilliant night! It was great to spend such a wonderful evening with all my friends who looked stunning in their dresses and with their hair done up all fancy! The event itself was held at the West Retford Hotel which was a lovely venue with some big, quite scenic gardens which made some of our photographs look very picturesque! Highlights of the night have got to include most of Y11 on their feet and singing and dancing along to 'We Are Young' by Fun fairly early on in the night, travelling to prom on a big red London doubledecker bus, dancing to numerous, timeless songs like 'What Makes You Beautiful' and the 'YMCA' and, in general, just talking, dancing, singing, taking photos and sharing countless laughs with some truly amazing people! I'd like to say thank you to all the teachers at Valley for everything and good luck in the future to all my fellow students and all my friends! I had an unforgettable night which was full of some wonderful memories! Hope you enjoy some of the photos! Meg xxx

Happy Father's Day!

Bit blurry but from L to R, my Grandad, me, my Nan and my Mum x
Happy Father's Day to my amazing Grandad! He does so much for me and I love him to bits! Couldn't ask for a better Grandad and father figure! Hope he has a nice, relaxing day and enjoys his licourice allsorts and bottles of beer and wisky! Xxx

Night in with the girls!

So last night I had Poppy, Eli and Emma round for a film night! After much debate between me&Eli and Poppy&Emma, we agreed to give into their demands and watch a scary film. Little did I know at that point, they didn't want to watch the likes of 'The Haunted Mansion' or 'Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed' like I suggested, they wanted to watch 'Paranormal Activity'. So after a lot of faffing with the DVD player, on the scary film went and behind the settee cushions we all went! All four of us crammed ourselves onto my 3 seater settee and prepared ourselves for a scare...
And a scare we got! In the last minute or so of the film all four of us were screaming our heads off! Eli had her eyes shut and her hands over her ears (whether that was because of the noise we were making though I don't know), Poppy was somehow still watching out of the corner of her eyes I believe but was still scared, Emma was behind a cushion and screaming (possibly in pain since I was gripping her arm so tightly) and me, well, I was behind a pillow screaming "GET THAT OFF OF MY TV SCREEN NOW!" and "TURN IT OFFFFFFFFF!" Of course, no one dared move to turn it off so, just as the credits stopped rolling and what we think was the alternative ending began to play, I decided enough was enough, took one for the team and practically slammed the eject button on the DVD player. For the next 15 minutes or so we were all to scared to move and all 4 of us had to go with each other to the toliet, where Emma decided she 'saw something move' so she ran out of the toilet screaming. Back downstairs, we decided to put the 'Wedding Singer' on in a desperate bid to cheer us up and, it did it's job! We were singing along to the funny songs and ended up taking an extremely funny video of us all acting out the scene on the airplane starring me as Robbie Hart, Poppy as Julia, Eli as Glen Goolia and Emma as Billy Idol. You should definitely check it out on Emma's facebook! We enjoyed it so much and decided we were pure naturals when it came to acting out scenes from films that we did the Take a Chance on me/Mamma Mia finale bit from the film 'Mamma Mia' too! All in all, I had a great night and would love to do something like that again soon! Thanks for coming guys and, to people reading this, watch out for our hit videos on Youtube!

LET THE SUN SHINE, LET THE SUN SHINE BABY!

The sun is out, whooooo! And whilst it can get unbearingly warm in our blazers at school, it's still lovely to be out enjoying the sun! So, let me tell you about what I've been doing to enjoy and embrace this glorious weather! Friday night I went out with some of the crew to 'the field' where we played a bit of footie and then retired to Paul's house to watch some TV which was cool! Then Saturday I was swimming at Ponds Forge and two of my amazing friends came to support me! How nice is that? So big thankyou to Lottie and Lauren for that! And Saturday night I was round at Eli's for a Eurovision party which was a brilliant night that I enjoyed very much so thankyou to Eli too! Sunday I was back at Ponds Forge for a morning of racing, then straight to my ballet dancing exam, the home for a quick change, then out and about with the Popster! And Sunday night I was coaching at Dolphins! So all in all, a pretty packed and pretty good weekend! Had a really good time and even got a bit of a tan line (or burn line as it probably is) on my back! Enjoy the sun everyone, but don't forget that sun cream! :-) xxx

Making Fairycakes with my Brethren!

Yesterday, I went to Eli's house where we took up the task of making fairy cakes like the hard kids that we are! (BRAP)! Anywho, we went about making some very chocolatey buns by adding 6oz margarine, 6oz caster sugar, 6oz self-raising flour, 3 eggs and A LOT of cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl. After a lot of elbow grease and a few cheeky tastes here and there we had our mixture ready to put into some very fancy bun cases Elis's Mum has invested in from the very nice if not slightly overpriced Lakeland! So, we banged 12 in the oven (at about 180 degrees) and got out the hi-tech piping bag Eli's Mum had also purchased in Lakeland. Then we hit a slight problem. You see, having the very fancy bun cases and hi-tech equipment from Lakeland that we did, we decided to try to go for the professional finish by attempting to make butter cream frosting, which neither of us knew how to make. So, we whipped the laptop out! Admittedly, it probably wasn't the best idea to take it into the kitchen which was a tad messy by this point, but we did it anyway! We managed to find a recipe that told us to use 250g unsalted butter (which we decided was just being picky for the sake of being picky so used margarine instead), 250g icing sugar (we used ROYAL icing sugar for that extra touch), food colouring (we chose red which looked very effective), a pinch of salt and a 'splash' of milk. A SPLASH of milk?! What's all that about? How on earth do you measure a splash of milk? I left Eli to that bit, but tried to help her out by saying "maybe it's like the amount you would put in milky tea?" We just chucked it in, gave it a bit of elbow grease and hoped for the best! Well... it certainly LOOKED good. However, the taste was a tincy bit off (it had a very salty aftertaste which wasn't particularly pleasant) so we added quite a bit more icing sugar until we decided it was fit to go onto our fairy cakes! So, whilst the buns were cooling on a wire rack and Eli was rinsing out the piping bag (because it was it's first use), I surfed youtube for some videos on how to assemble the thing and, more to the point, how to actually use it and get that professional looking finish fit for the likes of Nikki or whatever her name is... I'm gonna have to google that now... Nigella Lawson! That's the one! Anywho, so we looked at a few videos and found one created by somebody de la Cruz who was slightly patronising but gave us the information we needed! Soon we were icing our buns: me squeezing and Eli directing because, believe it or not, it was actually a two man (or girl in our cases) job! We managed to get the little professonal flick finish on a few of them but on some it did fall slightly flat but, on the whole, I think they looked pretty good myself! We dusted them with a sprinkling of edible glitter and bon appetite! Our fairy cakes were finished! We then celebrated our finishing of our very fancy looking buns by eating one each as well as some magic stars, dairy milk and strawberry pencils whilst watching The Vault (a channel that plays lots of different music which resulted in a lot of consultation on google as to who was in which band and whether they were in films as well e.t.c.)! But yes, I had a good day so, thankyou Eli! :D

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day!!! And I would just like to say Happy Mother's Day to my Mum! She is truly amazing! I admire her for raising myself and my brother like she has and want to thank her for all the support she has given us both over the years! I hope she has a brilliant day because she deserves it 100%! She is a fantastic mother no matter what anyone else says and I love her very much! And now I'm starting to get slightly teary eyed so, I hope you liked your presents and card Mum and enjoyed your breakfast (a "boiled" egg and toasted muffin and croissants) in bed and wish you a very Happy Mother's Day! :) xxxxx

Party!

I seem to have been to a fair few parties recently! More so than usual! Infact wait, that kind of sounds like I'm a right wild child (which I'm not)! Anywho, it's been pretty good going to all these parties! So, I would like to say "Happy Birthday!" to all my friends who have turned 16 so far and again to my friends who will be turning 16 throughout the rest of the year! And a huge thankyou to Lauren, Eli, Amie and Emma for all inviting me to your fabulous parties! They were all amazing and I had such a wonderful time at all of them! No parties planned for this weekend but, to be honest, I don't particularly mind because I've had such a brilliant time at all of the ones I've been to recently! Whooooo! Okay, short blog post thingy I know but, I typed out like 2 or 3 and they didn't post so I'm hoping this one will work and my blog won't look as bare! Hahaha! :)

Hello!

This is me at my 16th Birthday Party! :)

Hi! Just a quick post to say hello! I'm Megan and I'm 16! Lots of my friends have blogs so here's mine! It's called 'Oh Spiffing' because that's something I think I say a fair bit! It's probably gonna be a fairly general kind of blog but I haven't really decided yet seemings as though I've only just decided that I would create one! Anywho, I hope you like it and thanks for taking your time to read it, I guess! :) xxx
